Turn off Instagram auto-sharing before you apply

Fast Track wants no Facebook Reel in the past 6 months. Instagram can share your Reels to Facebook automatically, so you might have posted Facebook Reels without knowing. Turn it off before you apply.

Last checked Oct 26, 2026 against Meta's and the platforms' own pages. Anything we couldn't confirm there is marked. Meta can change its rules at any time.

Why it matters

When Instagram's sharing is on, Meta's help page says your Instagram posts are also shared to Facebook. If your Reels have been landing on your Facebook profile or Page, Meta may see you as someone who already posts Facebook Reels. Meta doesn't say how it treats auto-shared Reels for Fast Track Not confirmed by Meta, so the safe move is to switch it off.

Turn it off (Instagram app)

  1. Open Instagram and tap your profile picture at the bottom right.
  2. Tap the menu at the top right.
  3. Tap Accounts Center, then Connected experiences.
  4. Tap Sharing across profiles.
  5. Pick your Instagram account to share from, then the Facebook account to share to.
  6. Switch off "Your Instagram posts". If your app shows separate switches for posts, stories and reels, switch off all of them.

These steps match Meta's help page as of the date at the top. Menu names move around between app versions. Some versions show separate switches for reels and stories seen in creator guides, not on Meta's page.

When you share a reel, if you see a Recommend on Facebook switch, turn that off too. Meta doesn't say whether it matters for Fast Track Not confirmed by Meta, and leaving it off costs nothing.

Check it worked

  • Open the Facebook app, go to your profile, and look at your Reels. Then do the same on your Page.
  • Anything posted in the last 6 months? Note the date of the newest one. The 6 months count from your last Facebook Reel.
  • Post your next Instagram Reel, wait a few minutes, and check Facebook again to be sure nothing new shows up.

Keep it off while you wait

Leave sharing off while Meta reviews your application, and don't post any Facebook Reel by hand either. Once you're accepted, you'll post 15 reels a month on Facebook on purpose: see 15 reels on 10 days.

Questions

Does an auto-shared Instagram Reel count as posting a Facebook Reel?

Meta doesn't say. Fast Track asks for no Facebook Reel in the past 6 months, and an auto-shared Reel shows up on Facebook, so we treat it as if it counts. Turning sharing off costs you nothing.

I've been auto-sharing for months. Can I still apply?

If Reels landed on that Facebook account in the last 6 months, not with that account right now. Take our checkup and answer Yes to the Reel question: it shows you your options.

Will turning it off hurt my Instagram?

No. It only stops copies of your posts going to Facebook. Your Instagram posts and reach stay the same.

Can I change this on a computer?

Meta's help page says this setting is only in the Instagram app on Android or iPhone.

Does turning it off remove Reels that were already shared?

No. It only stops new shares. Anything already on Facebook stays there until you delete it.

Should I turn it back on after Meta accepts me?

Not if we post your videos to Facebook for you. Your Page would get two copies of the same video, and Meta can show duplicates to fewer people.
